Answers. For the first one, no. You don't. In career mode, you don't, unless you get the pink slip (which I always made sure to do). In quick race, they stay there forever (unless the game is broken hopelessly). For the second one, no. You don't get it in career mode whatsoever.

For me, the best cars are as follows, best first 1. Lamborghini Murcielago, fully upgraded 2. Porsche Carrera GT, fully upgraded 3. Corvette, fully upgraded I have 2 lamborghinis and 2 Corvettes in the garage in case one gets impounded, and the carrera is just fun to drive and good for cop chases lol. I think the R32 golf and R34 skyline only unlock if you go the tuner route, maybe the carrera GT if you start with exotics, etc. I might be wrong with some of these cars and I'm certain there are a few others but that's the basic idea. Seems to be one of the best starting cars in most every game. There is 3 cars that you can unlock in the beggining. The masdaspeed is the cheapest but is not worth the 18000 cash. The 240 SX and the lancer offer the same amount but the Lancer can be made better with the updates later in the game.

Another problem is, the controller I use sometimes veers the car right, like (other word for the brown-ish bathroom stuff in the toilet.)
